Dear Parents and Families,

We are excited to celebrate our amazing staff during Teacher Appreciation with a fun “Pot of Gold” theme! Our teachers truly are treasures, and we would love your help in making this week extra special for them.

This year, we are proud to celebrate 65 wonderful staff members, and we hope to fill each of their “pots of gold” with colorful treats and goodies!

We know this request is coming a bit early, but we wanted to give everyone several weeks to collect and contribute enough items to make this celebration truly special.

To make this happen, we are asking each grade level to contribute items in a specific color:

1st Grade – Red
KitKat bars
Twizzlers
Red Skittles
Red pens or markers
Apples or small red-themed treats

2nd Grade – Orange
Reese’s (peanut butter cups, pieces)
Goldfish crackers (orange cheddar)
Orange Gatorade or soda
Orange candy (Starburst, gummies)

3rd Grade – Yellow
M&M’s (yellow packs)
Lemon candy (Lemonheads, Starburst)
Yellow highlighters
Chips (Lay’s classic)

4th Grade – Green
Mint candies or gum
Pistachios
Green Skittles or sour candies
Granola bars (green packaging)
Small plants or greenery

5th Grade – Purple
Grape candy or snacks
Purple Skittles or Starburst
Chocolate bars in purple packaging
Purple pens or school supplies

These are just suggestions—if you find an item that matches your grade level’s color, please feel free to contribute it!

All items will be collected and combined into festive “pots of gold” for our teachers to enjoy!

If you would like to give a specific gift to a teacher, please feel free to send it to the office labeled with the teacher’s name, and we will make sure it is placed in their basket.

Thank you for helping us show our appreciation and celebrate our wonderful “Pot of Gold” teachers!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Cockriel

It is important that VGE administration and staff continue to reflect on our profession and performance from time to time. We value our families' and community members' opinions. We are asking that you take a few minutes to complete this survey to help us continue to make VGE a great place for everyone!

Hello! As we begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year, we are asking parents/guardians to let is know if you are NOT planning on returning to VGE.

Kindly send me a quick email at erin.mabe@hardin.kyschools.us to let us know your child will not be returning. Those returning do not need to take any further action.

Thank you for your help with our planning!

Next week is Read Across America Week! The forecast looks a little gloomy and rainy, so we are going with the theme "Cozy Up and Read." Here are some dress days to help us stay cozy! On the slipper and sock day, we ask that students wear regular shoes to school and change into their slippers once here. We will have some reading challenges throughout the week to help us celebrate as well.
